Éducazoo

Our two sanctuaries are home to birds from the following known families:

Psittacidae: Conure, African grey, exotic parakeet, macaw. etc.

Cockatoo: Cockatoo, cockatiel, etc.

Columbidae: Turtle dove and dove.

Conures & exotic parakeets

They arre great birds in animation, they are much easier to handle than large parrots because of their smaller claws. On the other hand, like any parrot, they can scream very loudly... Small does not rhyme with silent!

Each parrot has a personality of its own.
*With a calm environment, the naturalist will be able to present it to you, but we cannot guarantee handling with all the people present, as some may be selective.

Sun conure

Description
This specie of bird comes from South America (Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana andSurinam). In adulthood, its size is around 30 cm and its longevity is from 25 to 30 years.

Handling
This specie is a good choice for all ages because it's small and therefore easy to hold on your forearm or fingers. It's the most colorful bird of the sanctuary! It's magnificient to look at and you'll be impressed. However, it's very vocal and its noise is strident. This is also de main reason for abandonment.

Large parrots (10 years +)

They are recommended for adults or children 10 years +. Because they are heavy, their legs include strong claws and they talk very loudly.

Each parrot has a personality of its own.
*With a calm environment, the naturalist will be able to present it to you, but we cannot guarantee handling with all the people present, as some may be selective.

Description
This specie of bird comes from Indonesia. In adulthood, its size varies from 45 to 50 cm and its longevity is 40 to 50 years.

Handling
This large parrot is very curious, friendly and playful. It's an excellent choice for having a fun atmosphere since they're animals that talk a lot, quite loudly and love attention. The cockatoo is a large bird and has a certain weight. It may be more complex to hold on the arm for the youngest, but some like to be petted!

Other Birds (1 year +)

Finally non-selective birds! And yes, these remain the best choice for young people, because they are easy to take and can easily be petted!

CITES : International trade in endangered wildlife species.

A partnership with Environment Canada allows us to hold unique items seized at customs that come from poaching (ivory tusks, python skin, furs, sea turtle shells, etc.).

These pieces are used in some of our animations in order to sensitize the public to behave responsibly when consuming animal products. We also teach them the importance of wildlife conservation and the repercussions of poaching on animal populations.
