Joanie Asselin: The Entrepreneur Behind Educazoo Opens Up on Fibre E
We know Joanie Asselin as a biologist, an animal lover, and a communicator who has been appearing on television for more than 25 years. But behind Educazoo is also an entrepreneur who, for the past 10 years, has been growing a family business driven by a mission that is deeply important to her.
For the launch of Fibre E’s 4th season, Joanie was invited to sit down with host Pierre Berthiaume, president of the Chamber of Commerce. This 14-minute interview offers a chance to discover another side of her journey: the entrepreneur behind Educazoo.

Taking over a family Business… and helping it evolve
10 years ago, Joanie took over Educazoo, a family business she obviously knew very well, but one she wanted to lead in her own direction. Taking over a family business is a very unique entrepreneurial journey. It means preserving what has already been built while having the courage to evolve the company according to your own vision and values.
Throughout the interview, Joanie reflects on her experience, the challenges she has faced, and the different stages that have allowed Educazoo to grow. Behind the animal encounters and television appearances are also years of hard work, decisions, adaptation, and, above all, a constant determination to advance the company’s mission: reconnecting people with nature and helping them discover the incredible richness of biodiversity.
A Story That Brings Pierre, Joanie… and Coco Together!
This invitation to Fibre E was also particularly meaningful because Pierre Berthiaume knows the world of Educazoo very well.
Over the years, he has notably contributed to the company’s development and was present at Educazoo’s 25th anniversary VIP event. He also knows Coco the cockatoo very well, who naturally joined Joanie for part of the interview! His presence is also a reminder that, even when the conversation at Educazoo turns to entrepreneurship, the animals are never far away.

The Sanctuary and Educazoo’s Next Chapter
Entrepreneurship is also about looking toward the future. The interview therefore explores the different stages of the sanctuary project as well as Educazoo’s ambitions for the future. After 10 years at the head of the company, Joanie continues to move Educazoo forward year after year, guided by the same principle: growing the organization while remaining true to its values of education, respect, and animal welfare.
This Fibre E interview offers a different opportunity to discover Educazoo. This time, we step slightly away from the biologist in front of the camera to get to know the businesswoman behind the company, understand her journey, and discover what continues to inspire her to imagine the next chapter.
Because growing Educazoo also means expanding its ability to raise awareness, educate, and create encounters that inspire people to better understand and better protect the animal world.
