Through a gradual exposure approach adapted to each participant’s pace, they are encouraged to develop a greater sense of control, confidence and security around the animal.

The intervention always begins at the individual’s comfort level: observing from a distance, discussing their fears, learning about the animal’s behaviour, gradually moving closer, engaging in indirect interaction and eventually making direct contact when the participant feels ready. Respect for the individual’s pace, boundaries and emotions is at the heart of the process. Sessions may include breathing exercises, anxiety-management strategies, observation activities, gradual exposure exercises and guided discussions designed to better understand and normalize emotional reactions.
